WHAT IS AND WHO ARE RIGLOO?
Rigloo is actually the company name. Rescue Igloo. RIGLOO.
We design and manufacture inflatable, storm shelters for, initially, a vehicular breakdown shelter to protect you and your family, encouraging people to vacate their vehicle and move to the top of the verge away from direct collision danger with moving traffic.
We grew and pivoted and realised the desperation for a compact, reusable medical shelter to be provided to assist first responders from roadside to hillside and environmentally challenging environments. Although our original REFUGE model is capable of fulfilling this need, our new Professional RESCUER EMS model with a multitude of upgrades and “fit for purpose” improvements has recently been launched after over 4 years of Research and Development by some of the UKs finest training facilities.
Rigloo are a family. Not bound by blood but by a shared desire to make a difference, to be different, to be honest and free thinking enough that we can help others, improve the way they treat and help others.

WHAT PROBLEM DO WE SOLVE?
On average there are around 800 fatalities or serious injuries on UK motorway hard shoulders each year. The Governments advice is to leave the vehicle and move to a safe place behind the barrier or at the top of the verge. No mention of adverse weather condition options.
Rigloo products retain body heat as its a fully sealed storm shelter which makes it ideal, if you take a tumble on a hillside and have to wait for assistance from a SAR team.
Our new RESCUER EMS model is ideal for protecting a patient’s dignity during first responder assessment and provides a protective bubble, shielding unwanted attention from passers by and creating an instant field care triage space.
By controlling the environment we can lower the number of patients with prehospital hypothermia (defined as a core temperature below 36.0°C) which is frequently observed in patients admitted to the Emergency Room (ER), mainly due to a difficult and prolonged rescue, infusion of cold resuscitation fluids, weather conditions, age and a critical health condition.
Although there will always be a place for a non structured shelter like a “bothy sack”, until now, emergency responders have had to use camping gear or improvise a solution with whatever is near to hand. Rigloo are designing shelters for First Responders in almost any situation as a professional tool, when speed and ease of inflation and deflation, privacy, a physical barrier or another option for a call handler is required.

COMPACT AND CONVENIENT
The RESCUER EMS shelter is supplied with a fast-pack sack and optional long carry Rucksack at around 600mm x 300mm x 200mm.
The REFUGE shelter comes in a convenient and easily stored rucksack. After use, the Rigloo can be rolled up and placed back in the bag at 400mm x 300mm x 200mm it is easily stored in the boot of your vehicle.
All our products are supplied with a manual inflation pump, ground pegs and guy ropes for simplicity and support in the worst possible conditions.
